COVID Resilience in the Education Sector

Lockdown 3.0 has created mass complications and confusion for schools. Join our sector specialists as they break down the latest employment law and health and safety implications and offer some much-needed practical advice.

27 January at 14:00

The education sector has undergone an enormous amount of change since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, and with a further lockdown and lack of clarity from the government, the uncertainty facing education leaders continues.

With added pressure from unions and the mass testing required to allow staff and pupils to return, it’s proving to be a minefield for all.

With so many considerations, question marks and the associated risk, Ellis Whittam is hosting a free live Q&A, COVID Resilience in the Education Sector, to offer clarity, advice and support. Speaking to schools on a daily basis, the session will offer practical guidance on the most pressing issues facing education leaders right now to help you cut through the confusion, maintain compliant practices and premises for staff and pupils, and strike the right balance between safety and learning.

Co-hosted by solicitor and Head of our Education Team, Jane Hallas, and Principal Health & Safety Consultant, Scott Crichton, the session will provide expert insight into some of the urgent challenges facing education providers right now, including:

  • S.44 letters from staff to schools – how to respond and associated risks;
  • Staggered school reopening across the country;
  • Overcoming a lack of clarity from the government;
  • Union intervention;
  • Mass testing of teachers and pupils in secondary schools and issues surrounding this;
  • A COVID health and safety update, including stress management;
  • Managing health and safety risks; and
  • A summary of the non-COVID-related health and safety prosecutions and the breaches that caught schools out in 2020, to help you review your safety management system for 2021.

This is a fast-moving picture. So that we can bring you the latest and most relevant information, the above content is subject to change in line with any further developments that may happen in the meantime.

We hope this session will offer some much-needed reassurance and practical guidance which will help your school’s continued resilience as we migrate through yet another lockdown and the ongoing obstacles facing educational institutions.

There will be an opportunity to put questions to our experts during the session, so we invite you to think about your urgent queries ahead of time. This webinar is free to attend – to register, please complete the form opposite.
