Following the case of Harpur Trust v Brazel (which saw a teacher who worked term time only bring a claim against her employer for underpaying her holiday pay), the government launched a consultation on proposals to pro-rata holiday entitlement for part-year and irregular hours workers based on the annual hours they work. This resulted in new Regulations which came into effect on the 1 January 2024.
What's on the agenda?
During this 60-minute session, we will explore what changes are effective immediately, including the right to receive “normal pay” for the four weeks of basic leave, and rights around carrying over leave in certain circumstances. We will then look at the changes to holiday entitlement for part-year and irregular-hours workers, which will apply to leave years starting on or after 1 April 2024.
