We hope you enjoyed our recent live Q&A on the 22 October. If you missed it or would like to watch it again, you can find the recording below.

As part of our continued commitment to supporting organisations through the various employment and health and safety implications of coronavirus. Ellis Whittam continues to produce free resources, designed to help employers make confident, informed decisions whilst working within the confines of the law.

We have also included free resources, including an Employers Guide: Protecting employees who visit other locations and a coronavirus risk assessment for working or travelling to high/very high COVID alert areas available further down the page.

In this recent live Q&A, Nick Wilson offers practical advice on how to meet your health and safety responsibilities as an employer. Nick shared how EW have prepared for this same situation with our field-based consultants; the lessons learnt and the employment law implications.

During registration, we invited registrants to submit questions for the Q&A session. We have since collated all the questions and responses in an easy to read format. The full list of Q&A can be downloaded below the on-demand video.

Employers Guide; Protecting employees who visit other locations

The health and safety of your employees is of paramount importance and that extends to protecting them from the risks of COVID-19. Through this employer’s guide, we look at the steps that should be taken before an employee visiting another site, including;

  • Checks to be made before the visit;
  • Planning the visit; and
  • Checks to be made during the visit.

COVID-19 Risk Assessments

A specific COVID-19 risk assessment will help you to manage infection risk and protect people, and enable you to:

  • Identify what work activities or situations might cause the virus to be transmitted;
  • Think about who could be at risk (particular care needs to be taken regarding the clinically vulnerable, who might require their own individual assessment);
  • Decide how likely it is that someone could be exposed; and
  • Remove the activity or situation or, if this isn’t possible, introduce sensible and proportionate measures to reduce the risk to a minimum.

Note: Sector-specific Risk Assessments can be found on the Back to Business Hub.
