From Risk to Reassurance | mastering fire safety standards in your business
From 2025, fire safety rules have tightened, and the stakes for failing to meet them are higher than ever.
All organisations with anyone on site must now have a fire risk assessment and record all arrangements – not just significant findings. The legislation was enacted in 2023 but some elements only took effect this year, supported by the publication of two new British Standards: BS9792 and BS 8674.
With employers who fail to meet these obligations potentially facing unlimited fines or up to two years in prison, join us to understand the latest legal requirements and how to keep your workplace safe and compliant.
9 October, 2.00 pm - 3.00 pm
Managing fire risk in the workplace is essential to protecting your people, property, and profits.
However, fire safety regulations are complex, regularly updated, and often sector-specific. Many businesses don’t have the time, resources, or in-house expertise to keep up.
Hosted by WorkNest’s Director of Health & Safety Services, Nick Wilson, and Head of Fire Safety, Jeff Watkins, this free 60-minute session will explain what businesses must do to maintain fire safety standards, outline the risks of non-compliance, and share practical advice on protecting your organisation in the event of a fire – both physically and legally.
What's on the agenda
- Fire safety legislation: An overview of your duties under current fire safety legislation, including what’s changed in 2025 and why.
- Your responsibilities: Understand the role of competent persons, landlords, and duty holders, and how to make sure they’re suitably qualified.
- Common pitfalls: Discover the mistakes and misconceptions that often put businesses at risk – and how to avoid them.
- Core fire safety standards: How we can support you in adopting a practical, common-sense approach to fire safety.
- Tailored requirements: How requirements differ by industry or risk profile.
