Dealing With Wage Disputes in the Hospitality Sector

In a sector known for variable hours, high turnover, and tronc systems, it’s easy for hospitality businesses to fall foul of complex wage laws. From underpaid holiday entitlements to non-compliant tipping practices, even unintentional errors can result in employee grievances, costly Tribunal claims, government penalties, and reputational damage.

Join WorkNest’s expert-led webinar for clear, practical guidance on staying compliant with wage regulations – specifically tailored to the fast-moving, customer-facing world of hospitality.

18 June, 10.00 am - 11.00 am

Host: Jane Hallas - Head of Team and Solicitor

Whether you operate a small independent café or manage a national restaurant or hotel chain, this session will give you the confidence to tackle wage compliance challenges head-on.

We’ll break down your legal duties, highlight common pitfalls, and offer straightforward solutions to protect your business, helping you stay out of Tribunals and in control of your workforce costs.

You’ll also have the chance to ask questions, hear how others are managing compliance, and gain insight into the latest legal shifts affecting your pay practices.

What's on the agenda?

  • Legislation and case law update: Holiday pay and tronc – Understand the potential implications of recent Tribunal decisions and changes brought about by the Employment (Allocation of Tips) Act.
  • National Minimum Wage risks –
Learn where hospitality businesses commonly go wrong with minimum wage compliance, including unpaid prep time, uniform deductions, and variable shift patterns.
  • Guaranteed working patterns: What’s coming – With proposals to give zero-hour and low hours workers the right to be offered a contract guaranteeing the hours they regularly work – amongst other changes – find out what this may mean for rota planning and staffing strategy.
  • Inside the Tribunal: Real-life examples – Explore case studies where businesses mismanaged wage practices – and discover what you can do differently to avoid similar legal disputes.
  • Best practices for pay compliance – Discover practical tips for record-keeping, tip management, and internal audits to reduce risk and strengthen trust with your workforce.
