Employment Law Update | key rights, reforms and compliance risks

April brings a wave of new statutory changes, including new laws affecting neonatal leave and pay. Join WorkNest as we break down everything you need to know to stay compliant with the latest legal updates.

We’ll also cover 10 key amendments to the Employment Rights Bill and their potential impact on your business. This live webinar will be packed with practical advice for business owners and HR professionals.

10 April, 2.00 pm - 3.00 pm

Host: Stuart Watkins, Professional Support Solicitor

What to expect

In this one-hour webinar, we’ll walk you through the critical employment law changes taking effect from April and throughout 2025.

With the Employment Rights Bill (ERB) now moving to the House of Lords after passing its third reading in the House of Commons, some reforms could come into effect as early as October. We’ll share our expert insights on which key changes are likely to be implemented first and what they mean for your business.

Key takeaways

  • Neonatal rights – New laws impacting leave and pay entitlements
  • Zero-hour contracts and agency workers– Understanding new provisions and compliance requirements
  • Reforms to family-friendly rights – Changes to leave, flexible working and employee protections
  • Right to switch off – not in the ERB?– What this means for employee work-life balance
  • Fire and rehire – A reminder of one of the biggest changes in the ERB and when this might come into force
  • Underpayment notices and penalties, plus other enforcement changes– The increased risk to employers and how to stay compliant
  • Trade Union changes– The latest government stance and implications for your workforce
  • Sick pay for low earners– What the new 80% SSP rule and day one sickness rights mean for your payroll
  • Collective redundancy – Potentially significant changes to the ‘one establishment’ rule and greater penalties for failing to collectively consult – larger employers beware!
  • Working Time compliance records – What is the new duty?
