COVID-19 live Q&A: Moving on in Manufacturing

17 September 2020 | 14:00 - 14:45 | FREE

When an unforeseen risk is introduced within a manufacturing environment, it can create huge complications that threaten productivity and ultimately your bottom line. Fortunately, many resilient manufacturing businesses are now back up and running under new conditions.

With research showing that UK manufacturing is growing at its fastest rate for over six years, the sector is on course for a full recovery. With this in mind, the focus for employers will have shifted from assessing the impact and responding quickly to contingency planning and putting processes in place to ensure long-term sustainability.

To help you keep this momentum going, we are hosting a live Q&A exclusively for manufacturing businesses, where our sector specialists will address current challenges so that you can prepare for anything that may potentially jeopardise productivity.

Co-hosted by Employment Law Adviser and Head of our Manufacturing Team, Angela Carter, and Regional Health & Safety Manager, Oliver Williams, this virtual session will cover workforce obstacles and worst-case scenarios, including:

  • Managing ongoing staff absences and post-travel quarantine;
  • Dealing with employees raising concerns about the working environment (‘whistleblowing’);
  • Developing flexible staffing arrangements to enable social distancing and accommodate production ramp-ups or slowdowns;
  • Responding to confirmed or suspected cases in your workplace, including test and trace and what constitutes ‘close contact’; and
  • Preparing your business for local lockdowns and/or to survive a second wave; and
  • What to do if an HSE inspector calls.

There will also be an opportunity to submit your questions to Angela and Oliver during the session for specialist advice on your specific situation. However, if you would like to submit a query in advance, you can do so via email to enquiries@worknest.com.

Continue to operate safely and sustainably

With many unknowns surrounding coronavirus and lingering uncertainty as to what might lie ahead for manufacturers, this session help you to overcome immediate obstacles, anticipate future issues and ultimately eliminate any barriers to getting your business back on track.
