Long-term home working? Here’s what employers should know

Employers need to reappraise their responsibilities around working from home say Toyah Marshall and Charles Spencer of HR and legal expert Ellis Whittam.

Having made it through Super Saturday, Hospitality businesses must now fine-tune their safety precautions and remain vigilant in order to avoid a second wave.

In this article for CLH Digital, our Director of Health & Safety Nick Wilson explains a simple, systematic approach for deciding on appropriate risk control measures.

How homeworking could affect employers’ legal responsibilities

Originally borne out of operational necessity, many businesses have embraced homeworking with positive results. Ensuring a smooth, safe return to work…

COVID-19 health and safety measures

Test track and trace: Employees rights and coronavirus testing EXPLAINED

With fears of a second peak, retailers planning to reopen from 15 June will need to establish protective measures in stores in a bid to gain customers’ trust and tempt them back from shopping online. Some are getting creative in their efforts – utilising technology to aid social distancing. Principal Health & Safety Consultant Charles Spencer shares his views on the practicality of Aldi's innovative traffic light system for other employers.

Protected disclosures and coronavirus

The law prevents employees from being disciplined, victimised or dismissed for speaking out about malpractice – this includes risks to health and safety. So are employers' hands tied if staff now refuse to come back to work for this reason? In this article for People Management, Principal Employment Law Adviser Toyah Marshall explains how employers can prevent health and safety concerns from becoming whistleblowing opportunities.

COVID-19: Dealing with practice staff concerns about returning to work

Having remained open throughout lockdown, GP practice staff have risen to the challenges created by COVID-19. But as demand for services increases, what happens when vulnerable team members and those who have been working from home need to come back to the surgery? In this article for Medeconomics, Principal Employment Law Adviser Toyah Marshall explains the rules around at-risk staff and offers a legal perspective on how to handle employees who are reluctant to return.
