New in SafetyNest
More ways to create and manage risk assessments
We’ve expanded SafetyNest’s risk assessment functionality, making it easier to create assessments, bring in existing documents and keep evidence and actions connected.
The latest update to SafetyNest, our health and safety software, gives you greater flexibility to assess risk in a way that fits your organisation. New features include AI-assisted drafting, scanning of existing Word and PDF assessments, reusable templates, evidence uploads and a single-page assessment view.
Whether you’re starting from scratch or building on work you already have, these tools help reduce repeated admin and give you a clearer view of what has been assessed, what has been shared and what still needs attention.

Create risk assessments from templates or with AI assistance
Different activities need different starting points. SafetyNest gives you several ways to create an assessment, so you can choose the approach that fits the work. You can:
Use sector-relevant WorkNest templates to give your assessment a structured starting point.
Build your own reusable templates around the people at risk, hazards and controls relevant to your organisation.
Use AI assistance to create a first draft from a description of the activity you want to assess.
Where several sector templates are relevant, you can select them together and enter shared details once, reducing repeated admin.
Reusable templates also help you build on previous work. They provide a consistent structure for future assessments, while leaving the assessor to review and adapt the content to the activity being assessed.

Bring existing Word and PDF risk assessments into SafetyNest
Moving to risk assessment software shouldn’t mean starting again. SafetyNest lets you upload existing Word and PDF assessments to the central register and share them with colleagues for acknowledgement. This brings the documents you already use into one place, making them easier to find and manage.
The new AI scanning option goes a step further. It can use an existing Word or PDF assessment to create a draft template for future assessments within SafetyNest.
You can review and amend the template before using it, retaining useful content while building a more consistent approach.
Complete workplace risk assessments in one clear view
Our new single-page assessment view brings hazards, initial and residual risk scoring, controls, supporting evidence and resulting actions together.
This gives your assessor a clearer view of:
The hazards identified and who could be affected.
The controls already in place.
The risk remaining after those controls are considered.
Any further action needed.
Keeping these details together makes it easier to work through the assessment and see where further attention is required.
Keep supporting evidence and actions moving
Completing an assessment is an important step. Keeping the evidence behind it and following through on actions helps turn that assessment into practical risk management.
You can now attach photographs and documents to an assessment or to individual hazards, keeping supporting information close to the risk it relates to.
Actions are retained across assessment reviews, helping you maintain continuity as assessments are updated. Sharing and acknowledgement progress is also visible from the register, so you can see who has acknowledged each assessment.
When you need to share an assessment outside SafetyNest, completed assessments can be downloaded as professional PDFs using your organisation’s configured branding.
Together, these features give you a clearer record of what has been assessed, what has been shared and what still needs to happen.
AI-assisted risk assessment functionality, with your assessor in control
SafetyNest’s new AI functionality* helps reduce the time and effort involved in producing a first draft. Your assessor remains responsible for the final assessment.
AI assistance can help draft hazards and controls, while the assessor reviews and adapts the content to reflect the work being done. Risk scores are deliberately left blank for the assessor to complete.
*AI-generated content must be reviewed and validated by the appropriate person before an assessment is finalised or relied upon.
The result is a practical starting point, supported by competent human judgement.

FAQs
The cost varies depending on the functionality you need, the size, and complexity of your organisation and the wider support included.
SafetyNest is available as part of WorkNest's Health & Safety solution. Speak to our team to discuss your requirements and the right option for your organisation.
There's no minimum time under UK employment law, such as in days, weeks, or months. It's possible for you to dismiss employees at any time, but you must follow a fair process and you must be able to legally justify your decision under UK employment laws. You should always avoid dismissing staff due to capability and, instead, aim to help the member of staff return to work.
The right solution will depend on your organisation, the risks you manage, and how your teams work. Useful capabilities can include:
Flexible assessment templates
Tbility to bring existing assessments into the system
Clear risk and control recording
Supporting evidence
Action tracking
Sharing and acknowledgement
An audit trail as assessments are reviewed.
Where AI assistance is available, it should support rather than replace competent human judgement. The assessor should remain responsible for reviewing the content, completing the risk scoring and approving the final assessment.
