Colleague Spotlight
Lorna Tanner, Senior Health & Safety Consultant
Lorna's background
Hi, I’m Lorna, one of WorkNest’s Senior Health & Safety Consultants. I joined the company (formerly Ellis Whittam) in June 2016 but have been working within the health and safety industry since 2006.
After graduating university with a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health, I started my career as a health, safety and environmental advisor in a successful ‘outstanding’ college. Due to lack of progression in this role, I took the brave leap to become a Health & Safety Consultant.
I enjoy working across various areas, including Fire, Food and General Health and Safety, and have a varied clientele base (covering sectors such as education, professional services, warehousing, food, care and manufacturing) which makes the role truly interesting. I learn something new every day!
A typical day for me would involve visiting my clients to carry out scheduled health and safety audits or agreed consultancy work.
My greatest achievement is continuing to build excellent relationships with my clients, ensuring their needs are met with a valued service (and no complaints!). I love that WorkNest’s dedicated consultant approach enables me to get to know my clients a first-name basis.
It gives me great satisfaction knowing that my clients are taking health and safety seriously, and that they feel comfortable leaning on me for competent advice in a time of need. I’m proud of what I do; advising clients how to keep people safe helps me sleep at night!
Outside of work, I enjoy socialising, going to the local gym for a session of Pound and then Clubbercise (loving the old dance tunes) and walking. Plus, lockdown has taught me to sit, relax and enjoy the beautiful world we live in and the small things in life!

We moved our legal support to WorkNest (formerly Law at Work) having previously used a time and line law firm. It was important, though, that an all-inclusive fee structure did not come at the expense of quality. Thankfully we’ve been delighted with the service we’ve received from WorkNest.”
